Pupil Premium

At Harper Green School, we are committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances. Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools to help improve the educational outcomes of disadvantaged students and ensure they have access to the same opportunities as their peers.

We use this funding to remove barriers to learning, raise attainment and support students' personal development, wellbeing and aspirations.

Who is eligible?

Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals and Pupil Premium if you receive one of the following benefits:

• Income Support
• Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
• The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
• Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and your annual household income does not exceed the government threshold)
• Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
• Universal Credit (subject to the current government eligibility criteria)

Students may also be eligible for Pupil Premium if they:

• have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the last six years;
• are or have previously been looked after by a local authority;
• have left care through adoption, a Special Guardianship Order or Child Arrangements Order; or
• have a parent serving in the Armed Forces.

If you think your child may be eligible, we encourage you to apply, even if they prefer not to take a school meal. Registering can unlock additional support and resources for your child throughout their education.

How We Use Pupil Premium

Our Pupil Premium funding is used to raise the attainment of disadvantaged students, helping to close gaps in achievement and ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

At Harper Green School, our strategy is informed by guidance from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). We focus our funding across three key areas:

• High-quality Teaching

  We invest in high-quality teaching through staff training, professional development and evidence-informed practice to improve outcomes for all students.

• Targeted Academic Support

  We identify barriers to learning and provide additional academic support and interventions to help students achieve their full potential.

• Wider Approaches

  We provide wider support to improve attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and personal development, helping students build confidence, resilience and aspirations for the future.
