Bolton Schools Athletics Championships 2025
Wednesday, 25th June 2025

Our students showed great effort, determination and teamwork at this year’s Bolton Schools Athletics Championships, held at Leverhulme Park. The event brought together athletes from schools across the borough for two days of competition. Year 7 and Year 8 students competed on Wednesday 18th June, followed by Year 9 and Year 10 students on Friday 20th June.
Throughout the event, our students took part in a wide range of track and field events and performed really well. There was plenty to celebrate, with several students reaching event finals and a number taking home medals.
Mohammad in Year 7 won gold in the boys’ javelin with a strong throw and great technique, while Glory in Year 9 came first in the boys’ long jump after an excellent performance. Tyler (Year 9) earned a bronze medal in the 300m final with a determined run, and Mercy (Year 8) also claimed bronze in the girls’ 300m final after running brilliantly.
We also had a number of students reach the finals of their events, including Trey (Year 10) and Marho (Year 8) in the boys’ 100m, Prince (Year 7) in the 200m, Aston (Year 7) in the 300m, and Simisola (Year 10) in the 200m.
Tyler, who earned a bronze medal in the 300m, said:
“It felt amazing to represent Harper Green and bring home a medal. I’m really proud of how I ran and what we all achieved as a team.”
Micha, who stepped up at the last minute to run the Year 10 1500m, shared: “It was a challenge, but I saw it as a chance to test myself. I had the opportunity to show my resilience and I gave it everything I had.”
Mr Wakefield, Head of Physical Education at Harper Green School, praised all the students who took part: “Our students demonstrated true Harper Green values throughout the championships, especially respect and resilience. These events offer more than just the chance to win medals; they help our students grow in confidence, develop perseverance, and learn the importance of teamwork and commitment. We’re incredibly proud of every single student who took part.”
Well done to everyone who took part!
