Supporting Homeless Aid UK Shoebox appeal
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, life on the streets has been even tougher than it would typically be in the winter season, with many homeless men and women facing a particularly bleak and lonely period.
Homeless Aid UK is appealing for shoebox hampers filled with essential items such as toiletries, treats and other warm essentials. Students and staff have been tasked to create a wrapped shoebox in form groups, which can then be distributed on behalf of the school through Homeless Aid UK at their street kitchens in Bolton & Bury. This ensures that it reaches local homeless people directly.
To help us create as many shoeboxes as possible, we invite students and staff to bring in items on the list. These will be placed in a box, in form rooms, and remain quarantined for four days. The only things we ask students not to bring are razors or shaving foam. Dog treats would be most welcome and could also be added.
All shoeboxes need to be completed before Monday, 14th December 2020, allowing enough time for distribution before Christmas. Food items will be given to a local food bank which will be used to help local families in need over the Christmas period.
Items that are needed the most include:
We know Covid-19 has created added financial pressure for many families, and we would only want you to contribute if you are in a position to do so.
