Inspiring Visit from England Footballer Azeem Amir
Wednesday, 30th April 2025

On Tuesday, 29th April 2025, we were delighted to welcome Azeem Amir, blind England footballer and motivational speaker, to Harper Green School. Azeem spent the day with us, speaking to all our students in assemblies and sharing his inspiring story.
He talked honestly about the challenges he’s faced and how he's turned those barriers into strengths, showing our students that determination and self-belief can take you further than you ever imagined. His story opened up some brilliant conversations around disability, inclusion and what it really means to overcome adversity.
Our students were completely engaged and asked thoughtful, sometimes brave questions, about Azeem’s experiences both on and off the pitch. His honesty, humour, and passion made a real impact, and it was clear his message resonated with many. One Year 10 student said, 'Hearing Azeem’s story really changed how I think. He’s overcome so much and still achieved incredible things. It made me realise that no matter your situation, you can still succeed if you believe in yourself.'
Azeem’s visit helped challenge stereotypes and encouraged everyone to see ability rather than disability – an incredibly powerful and important message that will stay with us for a long time.
We’re also excited to share that Azeem and his team will be returning in June for two full days of hands-on practical sessions. These workshops will give students the chance to take part in inclusive activities, work together, challenge themselves and continue learning in a way that’s exciting, meaningful and memorable. We can’t wait!
